Hard Waxoil is a wood finish treatment that contains vegetable oils and waxes. Very easy to use, it penetrates deeply into all types of wooden floors, worktops, woodwork and furniture, offering long-term protection against dust and damp. Treated surfaces are simple to maintain and can be regenerated easily, even in heavy traffic areas. The natural appearance of Hard Waxoil enhances the authentic elegance of all types of wood.

Surface Preparation

• Sand old or new wood flooring to obtain a smooth, even surface: the wood to be impregnated must be sanded back (24 or 26 grain), refined with 50 or 60 grain, then finished with 100 or 120 grain.
• If you need to do any filling (holes, cracks), use Blanchon Pro Filler (water-based mastic sealant) or Blanchon Resin Fillerbefore the final sanding (consult the Technical Sheets for these products).
• Remove all traces of dust.
• The wood floor must be perfectly clean and dry: as a general rule, moisture content should be below 10%. Consult the DTU in force (do not use detergents or whiteners). Oily secretions from exotic woods must be removed with Blanchon Syntilac Diluent® or acetone.

Insecticide treatment

• If necessary, use a suitable treatment product.

Colouring or ageing effect

• Sanded floors (to bare wood) can be stained using Blanchon Aquateintet 2K, Blanchon Waterborne Dye or Blanchon Wood Ageing Agent (positive shades). After drying, apply one coat of Blanchon Prim'Oil. The overall effect of the stain should be visible after applying the coat of Prim'Oil (if necessary, carry out a test on a discreet spot).
• Blanchon Wood Ageing Agent ages the wood beautifully. Use Hard Waxoil old white, white or grey finishes for the best ageing effect.
• Important: on wood that has been stained with coloured Hard Waxoil, the traffic on the floor will determine how the shade evolves over time. The wood will have to be maintained thoroughly and regularly to preserve the decoration and protection in the long term.

Directions For Use

• No mixing: Hard Waxoil is ready to use.
• Shake the container well before use.
• Do not impregnate the wood floor when the temperature is below 12°C. Use only in well ventilated areas.
• Hard Waxoil should always be applied in the direction of the wood grain with a silk brush, graining brush, smooth spatula (not toothed) or short-haired roller. Wipe very regularly during application with a clean cotton cloth (in a circular movement), a buffing machine fitted with a beige pad, or a polishing machine fitted with soft brushes.To make buffing easier, work on one small area at a time.
• The coat applied should be very thin, giving a coverage of around 20 to 25 m2 per litre per coat.
• Buffing with a cleaning machine, cotton cloth or buffer during the application will make it possible to obtain a beautiful uniform finish: this method means that deep impregnation of the wood is achieved without persistent excess thickness on the surface.
• Wait 8 to 12 hours before applying the second coat in the same way as the first.

Special cases:

• 1. On exotic woods, oily woods or wood flooring with "boat“ joints”, apply one coat of Prim'Oil to prevent extended drying times, which are inherent to these types of wood.Then apply two coats of Hard Waxoil with a sprayer, polishing each coat immediately with a buffing machine fitted with a beige pad.
• 2. To maximise protection, it is possible to apply one final coat of Hard Waxoil natural (colourless) over two coats of coloured Hard Waxoil. Prim’Oil, with its synthetic resin base, does not block the pores of the wood but isolates the fibres, which is not detrimental to the coating of Hard Waxoil.

Cleaning of Tools

• Tools must be cleaned immediately after use, with a thinner.
• Clean cloths, pads and tools immediately after use (fire risk if textile tools are kept soaked in oil). Cloths and pads may also be kept in water. Do not throw away cloths or pads soaked in oil without first rinsing thoroughly in water.
• Seal carefully after use.
• Do not discharge into drains

Special impregnation for the maintenance of all wood floors and floors impregnated with Blanchon Hard Waxoil, Easy Oil™ and Solid'Oil™ and factory-oiled wood floors

Maintenance Oil will quickly and easily regenerate all oiled wood floors (traditional oils) and offers a natural and uniform matt appearance without polishing. It has a pleasant and subtle wax fragrance and is easy to apply to all commonly used wood species that have been pre-oiled on site or industrially. Ideal for heavy traffic.

Surface Preparation

• Maintenance Oil should be applied on a clean, dry floor: always remove all traces of dust beforehand (using a brush, vacuum cleaner, etc.).
• Ordinary stains and marks can easily be removed with Lagoon®, Natural Soap or Blanchon Powerful Cleaner (using a damp cloth or mop, not soaking wet).
• Important: allow 15 days to elapse before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance, to give the oil time to dry properly.
• Stains, difficult marks and scratches should be removed with fine sandpaper. At these places it will be necessary to reapply Hard Waxoil, Wood Floor Oil or Solid'Oil to the floor. 
• Important: for wood that has been stained or coloured with Hard Waxoil, Wood Floor Oil or Solid'Oil, the shade may change with frequency of use. The wood will have to be maintained thoroughly and regularly to preserve the decoration and protection in the long term.

Directions For Use

• Maintenance Oil is ready to use. Shake well before use; do not dilute. Stir regularly during use. Do not perform maintenance on wood floors when the temperature is below 12°C. Use only in well ventilated areas.
• Evenly spread on the Maintenance Oil in a fine coat, using a cotton cloth, a microfibre brush or an applicator brush, always in the grain direction of the wood, and avoid laying it on too thickly. Allow to dry.
• You can also spray the Maintenance Oil in a fine coat, wiping it regularly as you go along, with a clean, dry cotton cloth (moving in the direction of the wood grain), until you obtain an even finish. Allow to dry. To make application easier, proceed by applying to a small area at a time. The floor can be touched up periodically and in localised places by impregnating it and polishing it directly with a cotton cloth.
• To even out the sheen of your oiled wood floor, you can polish it during application with a buffing machine fitted with a beige pad (or a white cotton cloth).
• The frequency of maintenance will depend on levels of use: it is recommended to treat the wood floor regularly at high traffic areas (frequently walked on, chair scrapes etc.).
• The more frequent and regular maintenance with Maintenance Oil is, the easier it becomes

Cleaning of Tools

Surface Preparation

• Sand a new or old wood floor until smooth. The wood to be impregnated must be sanded back (24 or 26 grain), refined with 50 or 60 grain, then finished with 100 or 120 grain. Brushed woods will produce more intense shades than smooth woods.
• Blanchon Solid'Oil is ready to use and must not be diluted. To optimise drying and durability, a 20% hardener to 100% Solid’Oil can be added. Preservation time of the mixture: 1 hr 30 mins. It is highly recommended that you use the Natural version with the hardener.
• Shake the container well before use.
• The wood floor should not be impregnated when the temperature is below 12°C. Use only in well-ventilated areas. Plants and aquariums should not be left in contact with solvent vapours.
• Apply one coat of Solid'Oil using a brush, roller (short-haired) or spatula, in the direct of the wood. Using the spatula is recommended for the natural version.
• Buff slowly with a buffing machine fitted with a beige pad. This will make the applied coat uniform and enable you to obtain definitive colour and appearance of your wood floor.
• After finishing the work, an overall rapid buffing of the entire area (floor cleaning machine, new beige pad) will enable you to achieve a perfect finish.
• Solid'Oil is compatible with industrial roller coaters.
• On exotic woods, oily woods or wood flooring with coat deck joints, apply one coat of Prim’Oil to prevent extended drying times, which are inherent to these types of wood. Then apply Solid’Oil.
• On very absorbent woods, a second coat may be applied the following day using the same method.
• Approximately 4 hours should be left for dust-free drying - approx. 6 hours for Natural.

Maintenance

• The oiled surface should be regularly dusted using a broom or vacuum cleaner.
• The occasional mark or stain can be removed using a neutral detergent (well-wrung cloth or mop and never dripping)
• At least 15 days should be left for the first intervention, so that the Solid'Oil has time to thoroughly dry.

Routine Cleaning

• Damp wiping with Blanchon Natural Soap for Oiled Wood, diluted at a ratio of 50 ml to 5 litres of water. Blanchon Lagoon can also be used for daily cleaning.
• Work on successive areas, regularly rinsing the microfibre mop or other equipment used. To avoid making the floor too wet, the equipment should be regularly wrung out.

Regular Maintenance

• Blanchon Maintenance Oil can be applied onto a dust-free and clean oiled wood floor. Wipe with a clean and dry cotton cloth to obtain a buffed matt finish. Choose the Maintenance Oil shade that corresponds to the shade of Solid’Oil.
• This operation can be made easier and faster by using a cleaning machine with a beige pad (if the floor is very dirty, a red pad can be used to strengthen the mechanical cleaning).
• This process can be done whenever the oiled floor loses its matt finish.
• For wooden floors that are subject to heavy use, regular maintenance can be complimented by applying a general coat of Solid'Oil; followed up with a thorough buffing by hand or machine.
• The more regular and frequent the maintenance, the easier it becomes.
